"The heart, like the mind, has a memory. And in it are kept the most precious keepsakes." - Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
What Savvy Brides Know,,, tips from someone who knows.
Attending lots of weddings, you see all the time money and effort went into them yet they often can feel like every other wedding. And when a Bride & Groom are investing upwards of $250,000 - the average total budget for Jeffrey's clients' events - Old School "cookie cutter" just won't do.

Many of you are already savvy brides, and will just use this to help get your friends and family on the same page, a few, may wish to learn what I have learned the hard way, and what truly savvy brides already know. The "Wedding" industry is beautiful, but like any other, knowledge is power. The more knowledgeable the client, the better the client.
Confucius: "Joy of low price have short life...Misery of poor work live forever"
"When you and your spouse sit down together arm in arm each anniversary to look through your album, to relive your day, you want to be engulfed in the emotions and warmth of your day, not embarrassed the photographer missed the details and images you wanted, lacked the skill or gear to capture them, or delivered a cheapo book." Your Memories should transcend the medium, and whisk the two of you into the emotion and excitement of the your day.
Savvy Brides begin by:
- Asking Friends who have their Finished Wedding Albums to share their opinions,
- Assessing the "Quality of the Work." The least expensive price will not make up for memories lost due to poor workmanship, lack of skill or care.
- Seeking true professionals, with a style that matches their emotional needs. You are inviting this person and their team to the most important day of Your life, and your family's lives. Make sure you are a match.
- Looking for real, artistic talent. No one wants someone "painting by number" or going through the motions. Technique can be taught, talent is a gift.
Being very careful to be sure the photographs you are shown, were created by your photographer! Many people have "borrowed" my images and those of other great pros and passed them off as their own, make sure you are seeing the actual work of the person you are hiring. All the images on my site and in my albums, are mine, created with Love for each family.- Searching out Photographic Artists that Love Doing Weddings. You want Your artist to be THRILLED they are at Your Wedding!
- Comparing only; completed Albums, and total orders, actual quality to quality.
You are smart in asking those already married. Those Brides whom have just booked a wedding, won't have ANY idea until AFTER the wedding, what their quality or what their total cost will be.
In MANY cases, old style pricing looks inexpensive up front, but you find later that to properly tell the complete story of Your Wedding day, you need many "more photos" and often "time" than originally paid for.
MANY, Many "low price leader" wedding album packages that appear to start out $500 or so, end up around $2500-5500 and the type of photographer that sells like this, KNOWs that is their norm, they base their costs upon that average. I think they should tell you honestly, up front what you will need to spend. Why do they purposely try to seem less expensive? There can be any number of reasons, none of which benefit you, the bride.
- "Wedding" Photographers sell wedding coverage everyday
- You invest in it only ONCE in your entire Life
- Educate yourself - COUNT images in a friend's album "that you absolutely Love!" (quality FIRST)
- Use that as a guide to what you might need
- Adjust for the size of your wedding, overall budget, etc
Compare first of course, QUALITY of the images, (no price is good if the work is lacking or unprofessional), then compare the price of a FINISHED album, with "your" likely number of images within. Plus any wall portraiture, gift images etc. You'll find the wedding magazines give a ratio of 5-15% of your total budget. We find that for complete coverage, finished albums and reprints, 20% is more like the norm.
Your photographs are ALL you have to show the ENTIRE grandeur of Your day.
" Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, the lesson afterward." - Vernon Law
Remember, mom's always know best, and She says; "The cheap person always pays the most in the end."
- Expensive Dress
- Elaborate Decorations
- Hi-priced Reception
- Elegant touches all round
- -and how will you want it remembered?
- What is your most precious day worth?
Think about it, do you buy the cheapest car seat for your baby?
Do you send fine china via the postal service?? Or FedEx insured?
Good, now you're getting it,, Fine Wedding Photography is like Memory Insurance. Every nuance, every detail will be there for you to relive each day,, IF done right! Countless moments you missed, due to the pace of the day, will be saved there for you, in your images for you to enjoy for a lifetime. One Bride compared it to her doctor,,, would you want the cheapest brain surgeon, is that what would concern you, the price? You want someone highly skilled, that is reliable, repeatable, insured, someone that is professional and worthy of sharing your day with your family, sensitive to your needs, and someone that can create works of art suitable for hanging in your home, or in a gallery.
You want someone you can trust to create images that are alive, to give you up front pricing, and deliver more than you expected. Keep those things in mind, and you will have a wedding album you'll cherish for a lifetime, an heirloom your future generations will adore, and a record of your day your friends will die over.
Many Celebrities prefer strict confidentiality for their personal wedding photographs, albums and collections. With a professional, you are guaranteed no unpleasant surprises.
