Mose Tolliver AL - born near Montgomery Alabama sometime between 1915 and 1920 to a family of Alabama sharecroppers/tenant farmers and was one of twelve children. Mose Tolliver married in the early 1940's and had a large family to include eleven children of his own. He had to go to work at an early age and received very little formal education. In the 1960's while working for a furniture manufacturers his legs were crushed by a crate of marble in a work related accident. Crippled, depressed, and drinking, he picked up a paintbrush to pass the time. He uses wall or exterior house paints rather than artists colors. His figures are flat, only partially representational and sometimes explicitly erotic. He was included in the 80's groundbreaking folk art exhibition at the Corcoran Museum on African American folk artists and Common Ground/Uncommon Vision at the Milwaukee Art Museum. Suddenly he was recognized as one of the most significant folk painters in America, and collectors from far and wide were seeking out his work. Tolliver's work has been exhibited and is included in many permanent museum collections including the National Museum of American Art, Smithsonian Institution, the Birmingham Museum of Art, the Philadelphia College of Art, the Montgomery Museum of Fine Art, and the Museum of American Folk Art in New York City.

Rev Howard Finster Heaven - Probably the best known and most exhibited folk artist in America today. Inspired by God in 1976, to create "sacred art", Howard set out to cut, paint and draw as many pieces of art, with as many biblical references as he could do in one lifetime…he has created more than most of us could reasonably do in nine lifetimes and has gladly passed this legacy on to his wife, children and grandchildren. Paradise gardens, his experiential creation in Summerville GA stands today as a testament to his prolific efforts to share art and the Gospel with the world. Used as his home, then his studio, his church and his school, countless artists spent summers there learning and sharing. His annual FinsterFest is a homecoming for art lovers of all ages. Countless shows at Atlanta's High Museum of Art, and internationally have come about through his discovery by the Coca Cola company, several Alternative Rock Bands who have used his Paradise Gardens in their music videos, and his work on their album covers. His work is some of the most sought after in the world of contemporary folk art today…and as each piece is numbered and signed, it only increases in value as it ages.
